I told them one day about 2 of my friends (girls) that are going out. My mom made a disgusted face and said to me "i hope you never come home saying you like girls'.

I was so insulted. I still havent told them. What should I do? How would you guys feel?

From the time I
reached the age where boys and girls get curious about one other,I
certainly liked girls as much as the next boy. However,I also had in
interest in boys as well from that time on as wel. I wasnt sure what to
think and it was something that I was so ashamed of. Growing up most of us
are raised to believe homosexuality is wrong and as kids we are socially
conditioned to believe in school that there's nothing worse than being
gay/bisexual and it seems to go on and on. As I have recently come out with
my bisexuality,I look back and wonder how my life would have been if I was
openly bi in middle school or high school.many gay/bi kids stay in the
closet and always hide their sexuality for fear of social
consequences, harassment, etc for being the way they are. For years and
years,I always hid my sexual preferences and was so far in the closet that
I didnt come out to bisexual people I knew in my past. The fear of being
outed was so great that revealing this to anyone was never a remote
consideration for all my life. The secrecy of being bisexual started to get
to me and kill me on the inside over the past two years. I felt like I
wasnt being my true self by hiding in the closet and denying something that
has always been a part of who I am. Being uncomfortable about being
bisexual was the big problem I had. In 2009,I came to a crossroads more
less and I felt I had to make some changes and start being who I am and to
stop living in shame over something that has always been a part of me. Just
accepting the fact I was bisexual and stoping with the denial was my first
huge step. Then coming out was the next. As I come out to friends,I felt
better with each person I told. That process is still on going and I feel
good about it. Coming out to my wife was the most difficult for me but that
actually went over very well once I actually told her and we discussed it.
She has stood by me 100 percent and still loves me just as much as she ever
has. My wife is working through this with me and I greatly appreciate that
so mcuh. Coming out has lifted that burden of shame and secrecy off of me
and I feel so much better now. The support I have recieved from my wife and
friends has really touched me a great deal. It's tough enough just being
yourself in this society and to be gay or bisexual on top of that just
makes matters worse for many gay/bi people. If my story can atleast make
some difference in the life of one gay or bi person, then I feel like it is
all worthwhile.

So i was thinking about how everyone is supposed to be equal in America. Women were given the right to vote and represent and the slaves were freed, so why not gay people and being together, and having the right to marry? Why can't we be equal like everyone else? After all, its in the Declaration of Independence: "All men created equal" and later [it was unstated] that women were created equal to men, too. Give me your thoughts and opinions, please.

What's your story? Are you gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, transgender, transsexual, gender queer, or anything else? Have you come out to anyone? How did they react? If you haven't come out at all or just to certain people, then why haven't you? Is anyone close to you any of the above? If you're straight, has anyone come out to you? How did you react?

No hate comments. Homophobes you are not welcome. NOT welcome. Go away. We don't want to hear your stupid judgmental thoughts.

I'll start.
I'm pansexual, and I'm proud. I have an amazing girlfriend. I have told my friends and two of my cousins, and they are all okay with it. They love me for me. When I told my mom that I was bisexual, she was really mean and judgmental about it. I have not brought it up since then. My sister, who I love sooo much is a lesbian. My parents are oddly okay with that only because in their eyes she is perfect so they have to accept her. I love my sister to death. She is who she is and I am who I am. We can;t help that. We are both proud though.

Share your story.

While most teens enter puberty realizing a roller coaster ride of feelings for their crushes and loves, the screaming hormones and butterflies in the stomach for someone of the opposite sex. They feel the same feelings we all know: the blushes, the giggles, the secret glances, feeling like your heart is going to explode, the fear that your voice will crack or that you will say something embarrassingly stupid and the myriad of other thoughts that race through your mind when you come upon that one special person. Another group of kids realize with trepidation that they are not the same because they have those feelings for someone of the same sex. All of these feelings are completely human. Everyone has felt them at one time or another. Only a few, a minority of the population appreciates the terror, the realization that just because they are different and misunderstood, their lives will never be the same.

Just as the majority of the population revels in that wonderful gift of love, a minority group is faced with a decision. This decision is a major one. It’s a choice; do we choose to make ourselves vulnerable to all the biases and misunderstood hatred that a society feels the need to place on us? Or are our friends and family strong enough to be there for us, to realize we are not doing this to them, we are doing this for ourselves? We are choosing whether or not to be true to ourselves and our loved ones, about our feelings. Just as natural as being with someone of the opposite sex feels for the majority of the population, for us we feel the same way about being with our crushes and loves of the same sex.

The only real choice we make is whether or not to pretend to be straight to fit in, to make everyone else comfortable. Whether you realize it or not, you may already know someone who is gay, straight or bisexual. That person is listening to what you say, to how you react to others who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual. That person is trying to form a decision of whether or not the truth is worth it to risk whatever relationship they may have with you.

This gay, lesbian or bisexual person could be a mom, dad, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter or friend. Would you tell them to live their life as a lie? Would you have them be untrue to themselves, their husband/wife and their kids? To pretend to love someone of the opposite sex and, raise a family based on that lie. Is this what you would wish for them?

Being gay, lesbian or bisexual feels just as natural and right to us as being straight feels to you. We are not asking you to agree if this is right for you. We are asking you to understand that this is right for us. We are asking you to understand that we are human and have the same emotions and feelings as you do.

We understand that being gay, lesbian or bisexual may not be right for you; but that does not give you the right to harass us, to repeatedly call us names, to hit/beat us up or to destroy our property; just because we are different.
