Cholesterol reduction"Cut back on desserts and animal products eggs,meatcheese and other whole dairy products.
Increase vegetables,dried beans and whole grains.Switch from using butter or margerine in cooking to small amounts of Olive Oil instead,Extra Virgin is the best,which appears to reduce the bad LDL cholesterol but not the "good" HDL cholesterol.Lower blood pressure by reducing sodiun,Increase calcium and potassium,Take aspirin,recommended is one baby aspiin per day whic is 81 mg.,If you get heartpain then I wold recommend more,I take 3-4 sometimes more per day.Eat fiber,eat fish.Avoid secondhand smoke.Take antioxidant vitamins such as C,E and beta-Carotine.Smokers should avoid these suppliments until further research is done by the scientists/chemists etc.,(because a study found that smokers who take these suppliments had a higher risk of of lung cancer) recommended doses of each of these are as follows:1000mg.vitamin C,400 I.U.'s of E,10,00 I.U's of Beta-Carotene.*Special note*-*The link between emotional stress and Heart Disease is difficult to prove*,However,If your prone to Anxiety or depression,Learn more about stress fighters-Yoga,meditation,deep breathing or psychotherapy.You will be helping your heart-and You'll certanly enjoy life more.
High Blood Pressure-(Preventatives)-Foods to get sodium out of your system:
Avoid salts and processed foods-These account for 2/3's of the daily salt intake.
Try to eat Calcium and potassium rich foods such as Fruits,Grains and vegetables.
These minerals promote excretion of sodium.
Fish oil and garlic,possible helpers although not proven.
Trouble sleeping
